I've
been thinking recently about things I just can't get to grips with as a
beauty blogger, so here I present five reasons why I am a bad beauty
blogger!
1)
I cannot apply false eyelashes to save my life! I love the look of them
once they are on but I just cannot manage it myself. At a recent friend's wedding I had to have my mum do them for me and it was
particularly scary when she was veering towards my eyes with her Tweezermans, knowing she didn't have her glasses on! I really need to
put some time aside and practice my application.
2)
I don't do fake tan. I've naturally got a skintone that borders on
olive anyway so I've never really seen the need for it. And I feel
like my beauty regime takes long enough without having to fake tan my
legs every time I want to get them out!
3)
I never wear a top coat on my nails. Mostly because I change my nail
colour every couple of days, so it doesn't have the chance to chip or
wear. But also because I am extremely lazy.
4)
I've never been threaded! This is something I will need to rectify soon
as almost everyone I know has now jumped on the threading bandwagon.
I'm not sure what I don't fancy about it- is it the fact that you sit in
the middle of the shop getting it done for all and sundry to watch, or
is it that I'm a bit icked out by the fact the thread goes through their
teeth when they do it? I'm just not sure! Either way, I will be taking
the plunge soon!
5)
I just can't get to grips with cloth cleansers. I've tried Liz Earle
and a couple of others and found that it seemed a bit of a palaver really. I much prefer gentle foaming cleansers or oil cleansers but it
seems I am pretty much alone in the beauty blogging world :-(
Are there any things you don't do or thing you just can't get along with that everyone else seems to rave about?
I'd love to know I'm not the only one!
I'm the same when it comes to false lashes. I manage to get them on and look mildly presentable but it takes me forever. It does kind of make me feel out of place being a beauty blogger and all, like maybe they should revoke my beauty fanatic card or something lol.
ReplyDeleteGood to know I'm not the only one. I love the look, I just suck at the application!

Try using a eyebrow tweezer, they really simplify the application =)
DeleteI can;t apply falsies too, I don't do tan and I really suck at painting my nails! My 3 years old niece I think does a better job than me.
ReplyDeleteLoved the post!!
Thanks - I'm so impatient at doing my nails, I wish I could be neater!

I've never even tried false eyelashes yet alone failed at them or ever used fake tan. Maybe at 25 I need to be more adventurous?
ReplyDeleteIts whatever you are comfortable with - I know I'm rubbish at applying fake tan so I just don't bother!!

Love this, I hate fake tan with a passion! I'm the palest skin tone and I just look silly with it on.
ReplyDeleteI know, I always feel like I'm really obviously wearing it and never feel comfortable.

I'm with you on no.1 and 2! Threading is great! I recommend it. First time it hurt but second time was fine. I have heard rbfy on Fredrick St do pain free threading - not tested it out yet though! x
ReplyDeleteOooh maybe I'll try there, I'm sure after the first time I will be fine. Its just plucking up the courage to go (if you excuse the pun!)
DeleteExcept for fake tanning (I'm of the pale variety), which I only tend to do in the summer, I am with you on all of the above! I especially suck at lashes, it really frustrates me though as my friends make it look so bloody easy!
ReplyDeleteI know, how do people manage to apply lashes effortlessly?! I'm determained to master it, although I'll probably end up poking myself in the eye in the process!!
DeleteI can't do fake tan either (or, I don't want to), despite not being blessed with an olive skin tone. It actually scares the living shit out of me. A danger of patchiness and streaks, orange skin, faffing around butt naked waiting for it to dry, stained bed sheets... nah thanks, I think I'll just embrace my paleness!

I agree, way too much work for what is often, in may case, negligable and patchy results!

I'm excellent at many things beauty related, but false lashes are way harder for me than others it seems. I have decent lashes but when I lose some for medical reasons I use some little lashes that come in like a clump of 3-4. I find them way easier to apply. I found you on HelloCotton, hope you'll come check me out too! XO
ReplyDeleteOooh I've got some of the packs of small, individual lashes. I'll have to pluck up the courage to give them a go, especially as you say you find them easier to manage.

I don't do false lashes or fake tan. I don't like the look of either to be honest except for something like Paperself lashes or those really thin corner extensions but as a whole, I personally don't see the point in either product. LONG LIVE PALE SKIN AND NATURAL EYELASHES!
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to top coats I only ever use them when I've done a bit of nail art and wait it to last, otherwise I'm like you - it's kind of a waste if you change your polish every few days.
But I LOVE my cloth cleansers but it does take a bit of time to get used to them and I'm a germophobe and wash my cloths after every use.
xx
Glad to see another vote for a more natural look, I think we should embrace our natural skintones.
DeleteRe cloth cleansers, I think I've just never perservered with them long enough.
x
I'm with you with all of them, apart from 1. It's so good to know I'm not the only one! I never bother with top coat, I always get bored waiting for nail polish to dry so by the time I've done a couple of coats of polish I'm ready to stop haha xx
ReplyDeleteI agree, I've usually already sat around for ages waiting for them to dry, I can't be bothered to add another layer!!

I still have no idea how to apply falses but I do try. I also don't apply top coat, I'm lazy. x
ReplyDeleteI sometimes think life is too short for top coats! Me and you both with the falsies!
Deletex
I don't do false lashes. Luckily for me my lashes are quite long so I tend to avoid falsies but I can't apply them at all!
ReplyDeleteMe and you both!
Deletenever tried false lashes and a couple of these. You're definitely not alone there.x
ReplyDeleteIts certainly good to know I'm not the only one!

I am exactly the same for all of them. I don't put a base coat of nail varnish on either and I'm kind of too lazy to do the whole fake than thing so I keep myself pale and interesting.
ReplyDeleteIts the laziness aspect with me too, I'd rather spend my time doing something else than standing naked trying to ensure I've go all my white bits covered!
